18 ounces pineapple preserves (or apricot preserves), 18 ounces apple jelly, 8.5 ounces prepared horseradish, 3 tablespoons dried mustard, ½ teaspoon salt
This recipe makes enough Jezebel sauce to cover 2 pounds of meatballs in a 4-6 quart slow cooker.
Turn slow cooker to low heat; add meatballs in a single layer if possible. Pour sauce over meatballs; stir gently. Stir again gently in about an hour to ensure all the meatballs are well coated.
2 pounds frozen homestyle meatballs
Notes
Horseradish - Use Prepared Horseradish; not Prepared Horseradish Sauce or Horseradish Sauce. If you're not big on horseradish, start with adding only half of the amount indicated in the recipe card; you can always add more but you can't take it out once you've added it.Meatballs-This recipe uses frozen "Classic" or "Homestyle" beef meatballs. I do not recommend using meatballs with Italian seasonings; you want just plain ole' meatballs. You can use turkey or vegan meatballs as well.Cooking Time -If you thaw the meatballs in the refrigerator first, they'll be done in about 2 hours on low heat; if you put them into the slow cooker while they're frozen, it will take 4-6 hours on low heat. Meatballs are done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F.A note about the nutritional estimate:The tool I use to calculate nutritional estimates cannot divide the sauce and meatballs per serving because every serving of sauce will be different and the size of meatballs will vary. This is a best guess estimate in light of these limitations.
