This baked bean recipe has a ton of flavor from the onions and bell peppers, as well as the spicy and tangy sauce! You can make these as mild or spicy as you prefer and it’s great for a large gathering. They can be made on the stove-top, oven, or slow-cooker. - 4 15 oz. cans navy beans rinsed and drained
- 2 cups sweet yellow onion chopped
- 2 large green bell peppers chopped
- 2 T dry mustard
- 2 cups barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup maple syrup

Depending upon your preference, these baked beans can be tangy, sweet or spicy. For a sweeter flavor, use a sweet-based barbecue sauce and only 1 tablespoon of dried mustard. For a more tangy flavor, use an "original-flavored" barbecue sauce and add 3 tablespoons of dried mustard. To increase the heat or spice of the recipe, add 1 tablespoon of white ground pepper.
